“This technology is helping shave minutes off the response time of volunteers,”

“In firefighting, time saved is lives saved, property saved, and money saved. If we can get to a fire a minute faster, that much less damage has occurred."

"The technology helps volunteer fire departments make great strides in their response times."

Chief Daniel R. Small
Cumberland Fire Department

"The ‘catch-up’ feature that lets us listen to recorded radio traffic is awesome. In the past, it could take quite a while to figure out what the incident was about, who was assigned, what they were going to do, and so on.

Now I can figure this out in a matter of minutes, and make decisions that will help.”

Deputy Chief Daryl Rawnsley

Second Signal in Regional Dispatch Environments

We know you're different. Although our published pricing model is based on a single department operating on its own, regional dispatch centers are increasingly common.

You May Qualify for Special Pricing

If you share a dispatch center with other departments, you may qualify for special pricing if you meet the following criteria:

  1. 1. Your calls are dispatched on the same radio frequency as other departments
  2. 2. Different "Activation Tones" are used to differentiate calls for your department or station from others

How Regional Dispatch Center Pricing Works

Special pricing is determined on a case by case basis for regional center. We base our pricing on call volume, the number of firefighters and departments served, and the number of people we expect to have using the call-in portion of our service at once.

An Example of Regional Pricing

We just quoted one regional center that handles more than 70 departments a total monthly service cost of $500. How were we able to do that?

  1. 1. A single dispatch frequency is used for all the departments.
  2. 2. Nearly all of the participating departments are very small - less than 20 active members.
  3. 3. Only two telephone numbers are needed to provide a local number to all members.
  4. 4. The participating departments are geographically diverse, local weather events will not hit all at once.

We can't promise that regional centers will always be this big a savings over individual departments, but we will work with you to make sure you're not paying for more than you need. We're firefighters too, and we want to see Second Signal available to every brother and sister out there.
